Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge
& District Law Society

Who are we?

TWTDLS exists to build strong relationships with our members, whether in the private practice or in-house. We can help you access our services and add value to your business, support solicitors, their staff and trainees. TWTDLS provides its members with training, marketing, guidance, networking and social interaction.

Our History

Founded on the 29th May 1933, by local solicitors practising in Royal Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge. It is a matter of pride for our society, and a reminder of the historical importance and reputation of our area, which boasts the oldest law firm in the world founded in 1570, as a centre for legal excellence, that many of our member firms still carry the names of our society’s founding solicitors to this day, including Cripps, Thomson Snell & Passmore, Warners, Hughes, Berry & Lamberts and Buss Murton. Our society which is made up of over 260 subscribed members, and overseen by a committee elected annually, is an independent law society which offers support to local solicitors and other legal professionals, including networking, training and social events, including our annual dinner which has been going for nearly 90 years. We also represent our local members and make sure their voices our heard in consultations with The Law Society, Solicitors Regulation Authority and other government bodies.
